From a recent guest at La Preghiera,
Dear Liliana and John
Thank you both so much for a wonderful week at La Preghiera. It is SOOOOOOOOOOOO beautiful. I loved every fascinating and thoughtful detail. I also love ALL the staff. You have created a marvellous family atmosphere, with all of you clearly devoted to each other.
There were lots of special moments, not least the jazz concert and romantic candle-lit musical finale in the church. John's tour of La Preghiera and the development near Montone were fascinating, and the traditional fiesta was fun.
The home made pasta dish with the Porcini(?) mushrooms was the best ever!
Many thanks again to all of you.
Love Gillian
We have recently had James Martin to stay with us, who writes for a very interesting and informative website http://goeurope.about.com
Afterwards he sent us the following note which we wanted to share with our friends:
Greetings John, Liliana, and Sally Ann,

Thanks for a great experience at La Preghiera. The lunch was great, and
Martha remarked on the way home that it was just like visiting family. It
was indeed, without the bickering and things that family visits can
induce.

In any case, I think you have a winner in La Preghiera!

It took us a while to get home, given the completely snarled traffic
around Florence, the gelato we had to consume (grin), and a stop at
another hill town in, um, Tuscany; but we looked at the pictures and put
up one of my longest blog posts to date on your great property.

Thanks again for a wonderful time.

James Martin

Trasimeno Music Festival

In its first year, the leading Canadian pianist Angela Hewitt has founded a festival at Lake Trasimeno. From the 2nd to the 8th July Angela Hewitt performs in a series of concerts with other upcoming musical talents. The 6th July Concert takes place in the Castle of the Cavalieri of Malta at Magione and the programme is a string quartet by Haydn, quintet for guitar and strings by Boccherini and a piano quintet by Shostakovitch. The 7th July concert takes place in the Palazzo Ducale in Gubbio when Angela Hewitt plays the Goldberg Variations, returning to the Castle at Magione on the 8th for a string quartet by Mozart, a string quartet by Szymanowski and a piano concerto by Chopin. A new event not to be missed and hopefully one to be repeated in the coming years
